In jail for life
right Comment by: toncky    Rated:5/5
This doesn't include jail, you need to add the word for it, for ex.: Il est en prison pour perpette (for ever). It ALSO means somewhere very far as in: il est perpette les oies (he is extremely far from here) and thats quite funny to say. Comment by: Galle    Rated:4/5
yes thats right but it means also " It was a long time ago" like " a fait perpette!!" Comment by: khal

a long time, "ages"
good Comment by: toncky    Rated:4/5
I've never heard it used at plural. It doesnt necessarily mean hours either but refers to a very long time. For ex.: J'ai attendu pendant une plombe (I waited for ages). Comment by: Galle    Rated:4/5
Use only for duration of time. Comment by: Megan    Rated:3/5
Can also be used at plural : "J'ai attendu des plombes !" (I waited for ages) Comment by: Wes    Rated:3/5

Police, cops, literally "chicken"
right. by the way, "poulet" means chicken. Comment by: toncky    Rated:4/5
Poulet is a rude reference to a police officer, the equivalent in English is Pig. NB there is a similar work (nf) poule, which can mean mother hen, or woman depending on the context. It's an offensive way to refer to a girl. Eg: If a guy says 'c'est ma poule' its almost as rude as 'this is my bitch'. Comment by: Megan    Rated:3/5
